A Mouse in the Forest。 Once upon a time, a tiny mouse walked through a dark, deep forest. The trees were tall and thick, and strange sounds echoed all around. The little mouse was small and alone, but he was brave and clever. As he walked along the winding path, he didn't know that danger was watching from every shadow.

Meeting the Fox。 Suddenly, a hungry fox jumped out from behind the bushes! "Where are you going, little mouse?" asked the fox with a sly grin. "I'm on my way to meet the Gruffalo," said the mouse quickly. The fox's eyes grew wide with fear. "The Gruffalo? Oh no! Run away before he finds you!" And with that, the fox scampered away into the woods as fast as his legs could carry him.

The Owl's Escape。 Further down the path, a wise old owl flew down from a high branch. "Good evening, mouse. You look like a tasty treat!" hooted the owl. "Not at all!" said the mouse. "I'm hurrying to have tea with the Gruffalo. He's waiting for me by the old oak tree." The owl's feathers ruffled with fright. He had heard terrible stories about the Gruffalo. Without another word, the owl spread his wings and flew high into the sky, disappearing into the darkness.

The Slippery Snake。 As the mouse continued through the forest, a slithering snake coiled around a tree trunk. "Hello, little mouse," hissed the snake. "I haven't eaten anything all day. You would make a perfect dinner!" The mouse stood tall and calm. "I appreciate the invitation, but I can't stay. I'm meeting the Gruffalo for dinner right now. I mustn't be late!" The snake's forked tongue flicked nervously. Terror filled its beady eyes. It uncoiled from the tree and slithered away as fast as it could, disappearing into the leaves and branches.

The Gruffalo Appears。 The mouse walked deeper into the dark forest, and soon he came to a clearing by an old oak tree. Suddenly, the ground began to shake and tremble. Leaves scattered everywhere. Out of the shadows stepped the Gruffalo himself! He was enormous and terrifying, with enormous claws, teeth like daggers, and eyes that glowed like burning coals. The mouse's heart pounded, but he had to stay brave. "Ah, Gruffalo!" said the mouse cheerfully. "I've been expecting you! I was just telling all the animals in the forest that you were my best friend, and that nobody was more fearsome than you!"

The Trick Revealed and a New Friend。 The Gruffalo was taken aback. He had never been afraid of anything, but the mouse's bold words filled him with sudden doubt. "Wait... you were telling everyone about me? Are you sure they didn't seem frightened when you mentioned me?" asked the Gruffalo nervously. The clever mouse smiled. "Oh yes! They were absolutely terrified! The fox ran away, the owl flew off in panic, and the snake slithered away as fast as it could!" The Gruffalo realized that the mouse had tricked all the animals using his name! The Gruffalo laughed—a deep, rumbling laugh that echoed through the forest. From that day on, the mouse and the Gruffalo became the best of friends. The tiny mouse had taught the fearsome Gruffalo that size and strength don't matter as much as cleverness, kindness, and friendship. And they lived happily together in the forest ever after.
